Monument Method Institute
About Gaylen & Heather Wilson

They teach what they had to learn when love was not enough.

The Monument Method did not come from watching relationships at a safe distance. It came from 24 years inside one—through devotion, disconnection, addiction recovery, medical crisis, fear, repair, and the choice to keep building a refuge together.

Fiercely Protect the Monument

A lived method

Not a perfect marriage. A fiercely protected one.

Gaylen and Heather know the difference between loving each other and knowing what to do when both nervous systems are convinced the other person is the threat.

They know the long road.

Gaylen has built more than two decades of sobriety. In 2018, after a terrifying decline and near-death heart failure, he received a heart transplant. Heather lived that season beside him. Their relationship was not a theory while life was on fire; it was the home they had to keep choosing.

They found the pattern beneath the fight.

Drawing on attachment principles associated with Dr. Sue Johnson’s work and their own lived experience, they developed a direct practice for the moment a couple begins to turn against itself: pause, honor the shared vow, turn toward, and reconnect before the damage compounds.

“The Monument is the life and bond we are building together. It has to matter more than either ego in the moment.”

That belief became the Monument Method—a shared language for couples who do not need more reasons to blame each other. They need a reliable way to recognize the cycle and protect the bond while it still counts.

What it feels like to work with them

Two coaches. No villain. No performance.

You get two people who understand how differently partners can experience the same ten seconds—and who refuse to confuse shame with progress.

1

Direct

They will help you name what is actually happening without hiding behind jargon or letting the conversation dissolve into old evidence.

2

Balanced

With Gaylen and Heather in the room, both partners have someone listening for the protection, fear, or longing underneath the behavior.

3

Practical

You will not leave with inspiration alone. You will practice a specific repair move and leave with language you can use at home.

Their promise to you

They will take your relationship seriously.

Gaylen and Heather will not promise a magical marriage in 90 minutes. They will bring their full attention, their training, their hard-earned honesty, and a method designed to help the two of you make a different move when the old cycle shows up.

Choose the help that fits

You do not have to wait for the next fight—or the next disappointment—to take the first step.
